A Waltham-type butternut squash that has been regionally adapted to Southern Appalachia in an organic, low till growing environment in Madison County over 15 years of tending this crop. Over these years I have selected plants that thrive without irrigation and are able to fend for themselves against insects and disease. They produce a heavy crop with exceptionally sweet flesh and excellent storage quality. I regularly get feedback from friends and customers on how sweet and flavorful they are. Properly stored, these squash easily make it into the following spring, and some even last into the summer, coming close to one full year of storage.
