I've been saving them for 3 years and they've been saved by my neighbors for decades if not longer. I got them from a neighbor who has been growing them in the Grapevine community of Madison County his whole life. The seeds have been grown and saved in Madison County, if not specifically Grapevine, for generations. They are delicious! You harvest them when they are quite mature so there's some actual bean in the pods, making for a heartier dish then just plain old green beans. They are great for canning too. I really love how much history greasy beans have in WNC and how many mountain families have saved seeds on them for generations here. They are a variety that is pretty unique to our area and I'd love to see them continue to get planted in other people's gardens.
